What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps people heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences. It is recognized as an effective treatment by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychological Association (APA). EMDR is an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements and tapping) to allow the mind to process traumatic memories and find a healthy resolution.
In addition to trauma, EMDR is also being researched and showing promise for improving lives for people with personality disorders, addiction, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
