FAQ

  • What if I’m in crisis or need help right away?

Our virtual therapy is not a 24/7 crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. For help with suicidal thoughts or mental health emergencies, consider using the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or local crisis resources.

  • What is telehealth / online therapy, and how does it work at Vibrant Journey Counseling?

We conduct sessions via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform so you can meet with your therapist from wherever you are in Texas. You just need a device (computer, smartphone, or tablet), internet access, a camera & mic, and a private space.

  • Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

Absolutely. Research and clinical practice support that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person therapy. For many clients, online counseling offers more flexibility, removes commuting barriers, and makes it easier to stay consistent with therapy.

  • Is confidential therapy guaranteed?

Yes. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Your sessions, paperwork, and treatment are handled with strict confidentiality.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

To get started, fill out our Appointment Request form on the website. You can also call us at 940-202-9009 or email appointments@vjctherapy.com.

  • Do you offer in-person counseling?

No, Vibrant Journey Counseling operates 100% online, offering virtual therapy for clients throughout Texas.

  • What happens after I submit my appointment request?

After we receive your request, we’ll contact you within 1–3 business days by email or voicemail. If you prefer text, just note that on the form. Once we connect, we’ll send the intake paperwork and help match you with a therapist who fits your needs.

  • How do I choose a therapist?

We recommend reviewing our Our Team page to learn about each therapist’s specialties (e.g., trauma, EMDR, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergence). When you ask for an appointment, you can tell us what you’re looking for (e.g., someone EMDR-trained, or someone who works with neurodivergent clients) and we’ll try to match you accordingly.

  • What kinds of mental health issues do you treat?

Our team handles a broad range of concerns, including:

    Trauma and PTSD
    Anxiety and depression
    Self-esteem and identity
Life transitions (e.g., grief, major change)
    Neurodivergence (autism, ADHD, etc.)
    LGBTQIA+ concerns
    Highly sensitive persons
    Substance use
    Relationship issues

  • Do you work with children, adolescents, and families?

Yes. Several team members are experienced in working with children, teens, and families. For example, some use play therapy or creative interventions to make the virtual therapy process more accessible and effective.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We have clinicians who accept BCBS, UnitedHealthcare (Optum/Oscar), Aetna, Cigna, and Curative insurance plans. Coverage varies by therapist, so we’ll confirm your benefits during the intake process to match you with a clinician in your network.

  • Do you offer ADHD testing?

Yes. We provide virtual ADHD assessments for teens (12+) and adults, conducted via secure video conferencing. The typical cost is around $1,600 (sliding scale available), and we accept certain insurances (BCBS, Aetna, Cigna).

  • Are there lower-fee or private-pay options available?

Yes. We offer several affordable options depending on the clinician you work with:

Graduate Interns: Sessions start at $30, with additional sliding-scale options based on need.

LPC-Associates: $100 for the first session and $85 for ongoing sessions.

Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs): $110 for the first session and $100 for ongoing sessions.

These options make therapy more accessible, especially for clients who are uninsured, underinsured, or prefer private-pay rates. We’re happy to help you determine which clinician and rate best fit your needs.

  • What therapeutic modalities do you use?

Our therapists use a wide range of evidence-based, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming approaches to personalize treatment for each client. Depending on your needs, your therapist may integrate:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
    Person-Centered Therapy
    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
    Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) / Parts Work
    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    Adlerian and Existential approaches
    Polyvagal and Somatic techniques
    Mindfulness-based therapy
    Expressive arts and creative interventions
    Narrative therapy and strengths-based approaches

Many of our clinicians are also neurodivergence-affirming and experienced in working with ADHD, autism, and complex trauma. This integrative approach allows us to tailor therapy to your goals, preferences, and lived experience.

  • Do you specialize in working with highly sensitive people (HSPs)?

Yes. We understand the unique emotional and sensory experiences of highly sensitive persons (HSP), and our therapists can help you navigate overwhelm, boundary-setting, and self-care from an HSP-informed lens.
