How does therapy help anxiety?
Anxiety can feel like a constant background noise or a sudden tidal wave. If you feel like you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop, you aren't alone.
You don’t have to live in a constant state of tension
Anxiety can feel like an uninvited guest that refuses to leave. Whether it’s a constant hum of worry in the back of your mind, a racing heart before a social event, or the exhausting weight of trying to be "perfect" so nothing goes wrong, anxiety is more than just stress. It’s your body’s alarm system getting stuck in the "on" position.
The good news? Anxiety is highly treatable. Therapy isn’t just about "venting.” Therapy is about understanding your nervous system and reclaiming your life.
How We Work Together
In our sessions, we move beyond just talking about your worries. We focus on three core pillars of healing:
Understanding the "Why": We identify the specific triggers and patterns that set off your anxiety. Once we understand the map of your anxiety, it loses its power to surprise you.
Calming the Body: Anxiety is a physical experience. I will teach you evidence-based techniques to soothe your nervous system, helping you move out of "fight-or-flight" and back into the present moment.
Rewriting the Script: Anxiety often tells us lies—that we aren't capable, that the worst will happen, or that we are in danger. We work to challenge those thoughts and replace them with a perspective that feels grounded and true.
Is This What You’re Feeling?
Anxiety shows up differently for everyone. You might recognize yourself in one of these:
The Overthinker: Your mind replays conversations or anticipates future disasters until you feel paralyzed.
The Perfectionist: You feel a constant pressure to perform, terrified that one mistake will reveal you’re "not enough."
The Physical Symptom Carrier: You struggle with chest tightness, digestive issues, or a "foggy" brain that makes it hard to focus.
The Avoider: You’ve started saying no to things you used to love because the "pre-event" jitters have become too much to handle.
What to Expect
I know that starting therapy can, ironically, cause a bit of anxiety. Our first priority is your comfort.
We start at your pace. We won’t rush into the most difficult topics on day one. Instead, we’ll focus on giving you immediate "breathing room" tools so you can start feeling better between our sessions. Think of therapy as a collaborative workshop: I bring the psychological expertise, and you bring the expertise on your own life. Together, we build a toolkit that works specifically for you.
Peace of mind isn't the absence of conflict; it's the ability to cope with it.
Take the First Step
You’ve been carrying this weight on your own for long enough. Let’s work together to turn down the volume on your anxiety so you can hear your own voice again.
